Finding Your Skin Type

April 19, 2019

Finding your skin type can be tricky, but it doesn’t have to be. There are four main types of skin. You can follow these simple guidelines to determine which one fits you best.

  1. Dry – This is just how it sounds. Your skin often feels tight and ‘dried out.’ You may have dry, flaky patches. Sometimes it may even become red and itchy from the dryness. There’s no visible oiliness.
  2. Normal-Dry – This is what some people would call “normal” skin. You don’t typically have a lot of skin problems. One of my best friends is this skin type so I jokingly tell her she has “good skin” because she never has any of my acne struggles. Every once in a while, maybe during winter, your skin may feel a little tight. You could have a very rare flaky patch if you forget to moisturize for a couple days. Very little to no visible oiliness.
  3. Normal-Oily – This skin type would rarely (probably never) feel dry or tight. Most of your face wouldn’t be oily, but your T-Zone (forehead and nose area) would probably be getting oily by the end of the workday. Occasional breakouts, but not full-blown acne.
  4. Oily-Acne – Winner, winner, chicken dinner, this is me. Your skin will have an overall oilier appearance. You’ve probably never ever had a dry, flaky patch (unless it was from using too much acne treatment). You don’t have to worry about your skin feeling tight. But hey, on the plus side, you won’t get wrinkles as quickly as our dry skinned friends. You probably are also constantly battling at least one breakout. That’s why I love our Oily-Acne line, it has Benzoyl Peroxide and Salicylic Acid — the dream team for acne fighting, plus it has anti-aging in it!

Now that you know what skin type you are, get started on a good skincare system and your skin will thank you. Prevention is the best treatment.
